FALLON HAS THREE GREAT RIDES ON BIG DAY AT SHA TIN

KIEREN FALLON, the six-time champion jockey in Britain, will return to Hong Kong with three great rides in the Cathay Pacific International Races at Sha Tin on 13 December.

Fallon, who last won the jockey's title in 2003, returned to action this September following an 18-month riding suspension.

On Sunday week 13, December, he will partner Youmzain for Mick Channon in the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Vase, the Luca Cumani-trained Presvis in the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Cup and Ferneley for US-based trainer Ben Cecil in the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Mile.

Fallon is thrilled to be going back to Sha Tin and is hopeful he can return where he left off in 2005 when he steered the great filly Ouija Board to victory in the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Vase.

"That was a great day but I hope this year I can do even better next week. Youmzain and Presvis have serious chances but don't write off Ferneley, who was second and only a length behind Ventura in the Woodbine Mile in September.

:"Ventura has since gone on to finish second in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint and then won the Grade One Matriarch Stakes at Hollywood Park. Ferneley wasn't beaten that far in the Breeders' Cup Mile and will be much better suited to a right-handed track in Hong Kong."

Fallon was frustrated by being beaten into second on Presvis in a Hong Kong warm up race at Lingfield last month.

"Although it wasn't a disaster for Presvis but I hated being beaten; it was a messy race and wasn't run to suit us. I suppose Presvis would be my best chance as he will like the track and the ground. He won well at Sha Tin in the Audemars Piguet QEII Cup in April before his unlucky second in Singapore."

Fallon partnered Youmzain to finish second to Sea The Stars in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe - the third time the luckless Mick Channon-trained six-year-old has run into a special one in France's biggest race.

Youmzain had to chase home the great Zarkava in 2008 and was touched off by Dylan Thomas at Longchamp the year before. Fallon felt hard done by this time, more because he thought Sea The Stars wouldn't get a gap to race through as he travelled behind him.

"I was following Sea The Stars and couldn't believe Mick [Kinane] would get a run. I would have made my effort earlier had I known and would have gone much closer," Fallon recalled.

One important race Fallon will be all out to win in 2010 is the British jockeys' title again.

"I am really happy now but to go so long without the title is something I really want to put right," said Fallon. "Ryan [current champion, Moore] and the rest will have to watch out as I am after them. I hope to return to Hong Kong next year as champion jockey."
