ROLEY DUCKWORTH, who says he is certainly no relation of ‘Sir Charles’, saw the funny side of the Australian invasion on Royal Ascot last week.
Roley decided to take the ‘piss’ out of champion trainer Chris Waller and one of his biggest fans, Richard Callander, sending us this photograph and inviting readers to write captions for it.
Roley wrote:
‘JOLIESTAR was certainly far from disgraced in her Royal Ascot assignment going down in a three-way photo. The disappointment of Chris Waller that she went so close but didn’t win was understandable.
‘Not so big’ Richie, who most that were there say was riding Waller’s coat-tails, was a big loser on the star Australian mare. But bounced back to return home in First Class.
Richie told his good mate Dave Stanley on Sky that he was upgraded for the return flight from London. It was a bit much for me listening to this duo carry on – one declaring the other the best host on racing radio, some might say quid pro quo for making him part of the show each week.
Love to read some of the suggested captions for Chris and Richie in their penguin suits and top hats: Few suggestions: ‘Day At the Races’, ‘Abbott & Costello’, ‘Any chance of a quid to keep me going on the punt boss?’
EDITOR’S NOTE: LIKE or dislike Richie, the work he has done for charity raising funds to fight the deadly disease that claimed the life of his brother, Matt, at an early age, far outweighs anything else.
