RACING Queensland Limited (RQL) has identified the need for a club development resource to improve its connection to race clubs across the three racing codes and develop a prosperous club operation model.

Following an extensive recruitment process, RQL is pleased to announce Lucy McIntosh has commenced in the role of club development officer within RQL’s commercial & racing development function.

The core function of this newly created position is to assist the development of Queensland race clubs by establishing new initiatives, identifying event growth opportunities and implementing marketing strategies collaboratively with race club management.

Lucy has previous racing industry experience having worked at the Gold Coast Turf Club and brings with her a wealth of knowledge and event expertise.

Commercial & racing development manager Blair Odgers is confident the new role will further strengthen the current rapport between clubs and the control body.

“I am delighted with the addition of Lucy to the team. I am confident we have recruited the most suitable applicant and that Lucy will thrive in the new role,” he said.

“She has a background in racing and understands the club product but also has expertise in communications, marketing and event management that will enable her to effectively help the clubs with their race events.

“I am sure Lucy will be of great benefit to our clubs and encourage all Queensland race clubs to make use of Lucy as a centralised resource.”

EDITOR'S NOTE: Rather than have to answer queries in the Wednesday Whinge we asked if the position was advertised and here is the reply from BLAIR ODGERS, the RQ Commercial and Racing Development Manager:

'RQL engaged a sports recruitment agency who conducted a national search and shortlisted the candidates. The role was also advertised to Queensland TAB clubs seeking interest from any existing racing administrators.

A strong shortlist of applicants was received and we are delighted to have attracted someone of Lucy’s experience and standing.

I am sure Lucy will be a valued addition to RQL and Queensland’s clubs.'
