A handful of gold coins could make your day a winner this Saturday, February 23 when the Brisbane Racing Club opens its gates for the highly anticipated Dollar Day.

Dollar Day, which is now in its third year, has become a much loved day at the races where nearly everything is just $1 - including entry.

Brisbane Racing Club Chief Operating Officer, Darren Condon, said 5000 people are expected to attend the event featuring food, fashion and action packed racing.

“Initially the event was scheduled as a one off but it was so popular that it has now become a fixed event in the Brisbane racing calendar,” Mr Condon said.

“There aren’t too many places where you can still enjoy a fun day out for a couple of gold coins. This really is an affordable day at the races.”

Mr Condon said while food and drink may be cheap the racing on the track would still be high stakes with $100,000 in prize money up for grabs in the Falvelon Quality Handicap.

“It is great racing at this time of year with an opportunity to watch emerging Queensland talent gear up for the Brisbane Racing Carnival in May,” he said.

“All eyes will be on the $1million Group 1 Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Stakes in Caulfield which will be broadcast live at the track.”

Off the track there will be plenty of entertainment for even the littlest racegoers with rides such as the cup and saucer, merry go round, jumping castle and pony rides.

There will also be a live performance by one of Brisbane’s favourite duos, Blue Steel, on the main stage.
