RACING Queensland has today announced funding for the Townsville Turf Club to further investigate the development of stabling infrastructure at Cluden Park Racecourse.

The long term initiative to install further stabling infrastructure will assist the club to increase and secure the horse population for Townsville and the wider Leichardt region.

Townsville Turf Club President Kevin O’Keefe looks forward to the significant development and construction of stabling infrastructure at Cluden Park Racecourse.

“The Townsville Turf Club is very appreciative of the support being shown by Racing Queensland towards the specific development of infrastructure and oncourse stabling,” he said. “The Club continues to receive enquiries on the availability of oncourse stabling from trainers throughout Queensland.

“In addition to this there has, and will become, a solid reliance on oncourse stabling from within our local region due to the impacts of proposed upgrades to the Bruce Highway fronting Cluden Park Racecourse.

“The stables when completed will relieve the demand for race day and track work float parking.”
