TOOWOOMBA CUSHION TRACK FAILS TO ATTRACT SUFFICIENT NUMBERS

THERE will be no TAB race meeting in Queensland on Wednesday because there were insufficient acceptances to conduct a meeting on the Cushion Track in Toowoomba.

Queensland Racing was forced to abandon the meeting which had been transferred to Clifford Park from Eagle Farm.

This decision followed a poor response to the meeting from stakeholders with only three of the seven races attracting fields that would provide each way betting.

The explanation on the QRL web-site reads: “It was always going to be difficult to facilitate this meeting during the lead up to Melbourne Cup Day, but the decision was taken to transfer the meeting to Toowoomba to enable remedial work to be undertaken on the Eagle Farm course proper. Unfortunately, with a hectic racing schedule during this period there weren’t sufficient acceptances for the meeting to proceed.”
