BRISBANE company director, Wayne Milner and accountant, Brad Ryan, were today elected to the Board of Queensland Racing.

Stakeholders of the industry in Queensland elected Milner and Ryan ahead of five others who were short-listed for the two Board vacancies. Milner was the former chairman of the Brisbane Turf Club and Ryan was a director of that club.

The result is seen as a major victory for Queensland Racing chairman, Bob Bentley, despite the early setback he suffered when close friend, former Toowoomba Turf Club chairman,  Neville Stewart failed to make the short-list.

Former QR Board member, Bill Andrews, who won inclusion on the second short-list after a Supreme Court challenge to the original selection process, failed to secure sufficient votes to remain on the Board.

The others on the short list to miss selection included Brisbane businessman, Scott Agnew; former CEO of the Seven Network, Gary Rice; Sydney-based company director Sean Clancy; past president of the Cairns Amateurs and North Queensland businessman, Alan McPherson.
