Jenny - Clean

THE unbeaten Gold Coast filly, Military Rose, has been best backed in early betting to win the $2 million Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Military Rose, a daughter of General Nediym from the Gillian Heinrich stable, has firmed from $8 to $6 with the Sydneysider Ambers Waltz drifting from $4 to $4.50 favoritism.

Form analysts from the letsgohorseracing web-site have assessed the form for the 10 races and we have provided early betting moves (with corporate bookmakers) below:

R1: $100,000 MAGIC MILLIONS MAIDEN PLATE 1200m

FAST LOVER, one of the most talented Maiden gallopers in Australia, has been backed from $4 to $3.60 favoritism in early Fixed Odds market. He drops back to Maiden company after a fast finishing and close 2nd to Sweetstaking at a Three-Year-Old at this track and distance last week. That was his first start since July. The worry is that he has had 12 starts without a win but some of those have been in Listed and Group company.

SPEEDING TO WIN, from the John O’Shea stable, comes off a strong finishing 3rd in a Maiden at Canterbury. He has firmed from $5 to $4.20 in early betting and is lightly-raced but has not competed in the same company as Fast Lover.

FATHERSON, an emergency from the David Hayes stable, has been backed early from $21 to $14. He has raced only twice for a close 2nd at Morphettville then a luckless 7th from a bad alley at Moonee Valley.

NAMSARAI was odds-on and lost rider when going to be right in the finish 1st-up at Hawkesbury. MAILBOX from the Neville Voigt stable is resuming but has trialed well in Sydney. MORRISON, having his first start for the Trevor Bailey stable on the Gold Coast, comes off a fast finishing 2nd-up 3rd at Seymour. SOLID EFFORT and ACADEMIC QUEEN have upset hopes as well.

R2: $100,000 MAGIC MILLIONS TWO-YEAR-OLD PLATE 1200m

CUDDLES FOR NAARA: Caught the eye on debut when a strong finishing 3rd at Canterbury. Better for the experience, should relish the extra trip and has firmed from $4.20 to $3.80 favoritism in early betting.

TRICARICO: Sound efforts at only three starts in Sydney and Melbourne. Forced to race wide when 4th to One More Grand at Rosehill last Saturday. The time was not flash but he had no luck. Just failed to make the field for the MM 2YO Classic. Some support from $5 to $4.50.

PARIS BLU: Pressured in front when 5th to Military Rose in Listed company at Doomben last start. Has come in for some good early support from $5.50 to $4.50 and is with the astute Barry Baldwin stable.

JANELLE raced wide still won on debut at the Sunshine Coast. FUNKY LADY, a fast finishing 2nd to Janelle in that race, has firmed from $21 to $14 in Fixed Odds betting. GENERAL SHARIFF, POWER OF ED and PATH TO FREEDOM have place hopes.

R3: $200,000 MAGIC MILLIONS FILLIES & MARES HANDICAP 1300m

WITH APOLOGIES: Smart Victoria mare that goes well fresh and appreciates a little give in the ground. She didn’t have a lot of luck last campaign and has been kept safe 1st-up here at $5.50.

PLAIN MAGIC: Improved sharply 2nd-up to score good Class 6 win at Doomben. The apparent lack of pace in this race could suit her style. Horses from this stable are flying. That’s why she’s early favorite at $3.80.

ROCK HONEY: Victorian mare from the Moody stable that has finished on solidly at her latest starts at Sandown and Caulfield over a shade further. Bound to be powering home in this.

FELINE FLYER: Goes best at the track but has to be rated some doubt at the distance. On the plus side she could get an easy lead and for that reason has been kept at $9 in the early markets.

KRYPTELON was doing her best work late 1st-up in an unsuitable, tougher race in the wet at Doomben but does have an awkward alley. LUSTRE LADY has an upset hope in this on her strong finishing 6th to Alberta at Eagle Farm two runs back. OUR KOHINOOR caught the eye behind Deer Valley at Doomben last start. CASHOLET races handy and could improve.

R4: $250,000 MAGIC MILLIONS SPRINT 1000m

ALBERT THE FAT: Smart sprinter, holds the key as winner of four from five 1st-up but query at the 1000m. Should get the speed to suit by bookies prepared to take some risks, easing favorite from $3 to $3.80.

AL’S BEST MATE: Terrific record over the 1000m trip and comes off a strong 2nd-up win at Cranbourne for the Moody stable.

FAB FEVOLA: Unbeaten 1st-up and at only start at the track. With the powerful Bryan Guy stable and comes off impressive trial win here. Best backed early $5.50 to $5.

BACKSTABBER is 1st-up but goes well fresh, is a winner at the track and should be forward enough after a recent Coffs Harbour trial win. JOINT CHIEFS was spelled after winning four on end in weaker company that this. He is unbeaten 1st-up. SIMPLEST can improved 2nd-up.

R5: $250,000 MAGIC MILLIONS STAYERS CUP 1800m

SEESAWING: Came off pathetic form last campaign and has won three of her last four starts. This step up in class and trip will determine whether she has grown or leg or has just been racing ordinary company. Has been easy in the betting from $3.80 to $4.50 favoritism.

LA ZEEL: Came off a good Listed 3rd to Alverta at Eagle Farm then beat ordinary field at Doomben last Saturday. Steps up to a more suitable trip here and was won two of four at the track and distance.

EXPRESS AIR: Not too sure how well this mare is going. She came into the race at the right time when 4th to Joku in the Bernborough at Doomben. There was a question over whether she struggled at the mile or on the slow track – whatever the 1800m here has to be some query.

PEPPERWOOD: Won this race last year but went woefully in the Bernborough which could be blamed on the wet track as his previous mile win at Eagle Farm puts him right into calculations here despite the wide alley and big weight.

REGAL CASTANEA has had no luck at recent starts and in a race that throws up upsets has been backed from $31 to $17. ADNOCON drops back from tougher company in the Villiers when he raced wide. HIDDEN WONDER is flying since joining the Kris Lees stable and has won over this trip. ENCOSTA TSZYU is ready to improve sharply.

6: $1 MILLION MAGIC MILLIONS THREE-YEAR-OLD TROPHY 1400m

LOVE CONQUERS ALL: Only defeat in last four starts was luckless run in G1 Coolmore at Flemington in October. Strong 1st-up win at Randwick and has the services of Beadman. Early support from $4.80 to $4.60 favoritism.

DEER VALLEY: Chief Steward suggested at running and handling inquiry that this mare had a ‘practice run’ for this race when she had little luck at the Gold Coast when favorite last Saturday. Apprentice Ganderton subsequently suspended for two months over the ride. Trainer has said she will be fitter and better suited at the trip. Looks ‘overs’ at $7 in early markets.

SHOOT OUT: Winner of the QTC Sires over this trip in the winter. Peaks for this after strong finishing 2nd in Group 3 at Doomben to Graceful Anna. Bolted in at only start on the track.

GRACEFUL ANNA: Unbeaten at four starts since a spell. Had the ‘gun’ run when shade too strong for Shoot Out in G3 at Doomben last start. First try at the trip but shapes as if it will suit.

CHOISTAR put in big finish when 3rd in Vo Rogue to Graceful Anna when 2nd-up. Prefers some give in the ground but has an upset hope. DOUBTFUL JACK has been racing well for Moody in Melbourne. LATIN NEWS ran game 2nd to Love Conquers All at Randwick last start but has drawn badly.

7: $2MILLION MAGIC MILLIONS TWO-YEAR-OLD CLASSIC 1200m

AMBERS WALTZ: Looked good debut win in Sydney then had little luck when strong 2nd to Triple Crown at Randwick. Will find this a much tougher assignment and has a bad alley. Holds favoritism at $4.50 but bookies keen to lay and has drifted from $4.

MILITARY ROSE: Versatile filly, unbeaten after three starts. Led and won at Eagle Farm then stepped up in trip and finished strongly in the wet to win the Listed McLachlan at Doomben. Looks very smart and has firmed from $8 to $6 in Fixed Odds betting.

SPIRIT OF BOOM: Bolted in by seven lengths over 900m at this track last week and worked both ends. Bound to find this a good deal tougher over extra trip in a high pressure race but is very smart and has been backed $6.50 to $6.

MARKING TIME: Nailed on the line by Military Rose in the McLachlan at Doomben Drawn to get the ‘gun’ run again with Colless back on board. Looks best value in the race and specked early from $14 to $12.

BRIGHTEXPECTATIONS: Gai Waterhouse-trained winner of the Magic Millions at Wyong. Drawn out but is lightly-raced and showing promise. Early betting from $14 to $10.

PLACE hopes to STARTSMEUP, TRIPLE CROWN, DEMANDING MISS, RED BELLY BLACK (a Flemington debut winner) and RINGA RINGA ROSIE (went woeful in the wet last start but right in this on previous Brisbane form).

R8: $500,000 MAGIC MILLIONS CUP 1400m

O’LOHNRO: Class runner of the field, not started since failing in the Epsom on heavy track but is good fresh and raced well in Group company in Sydney during the spring. Trialed well for this - $2.50 to $2.60 in early markets.

ZERO ROCK: Her two runs since a spell have been sound. Nailed by Ghetto Blaster on the line in Listed company at Doomben last start. Well in the market at $6.50 and only doubt is ability to run out a strong 1400m.

EGO’S DARE: Slight query at the 1400 but has been running on in his races and never got a clear crack when 3rd in the Razor Sharp to Prince Braeman at Randwick. In this on that effort.

MR UNFORGETTABLE: Won the rich Maiden on this day last year. Returned to best with a win over this trip at Randwick 2nd-up. Prefers give in the ground but still in this.

Stablemates HEART OF THE CITI and HARD TO CATCH are both top value at $21. HARD TO CATCH almost caused a boilover when a close 2nd in the Goldmarket but prefers give in the ground. HEART OF THE CITI needed the run when 1st-up for two months at Doomben. He won the MM 3YO Trophy last year and is the roughie of the day at the Coast. WALKING OR DANCING has had excuses at his last couple in Sydney or Melbourne but is up to this on his best form. MR SLICK was a huge run in the Goldmarket – big improver.

R9: $100,000 MAGIC MILLIONS CLASS 6 PLATE 1200m

GUNDY SON: Endured wide trip but still proved too strong in the wet at Doomben last start. Drops back in trip here but has the inside draw and drops in weight. Well backed early from $5 to $4.20 favoritism.

KNOT OUT: The second emergency and will give this a real shake if he secures a start. Had wide trip when luckless 5th here to Sweepstaking last week. Right in this on close 2nd to Graceful Emma in MM 3YO in December.

ANOTHER TAKEOVER: Has not raced since putting together a win and three placings from four starts in Brisbane over this trip from September to November. Did enough when 3rd in a recent trial and some early support $10 to $8.50.

BLUE JUPITER: Finished strongly for 3rd when 1st-up at Eagle Farm over 1000m behind Spanish Fling. Fitter now and the extra trip suits. Great stats at the distance.

PLACE hopes in tough race to AGNES DREAM, ELMSFORD, ACADEMY MAGIC and SOULIMA.

10: $100,000 MAGIC MILLIONS COUNTRY CUP 1400m

RAPID MAGIC: Comes into this off a strong last start win at the Sunshine Coast on a wet track. Up in grade and trip but strips fitter and is the favorite at $5.

BLACK DAKOTA: Big run in wet when came from near last on turn to just fail behind Gundy Son at Doomben. Winner at three of previous four starts. Well tried in early betting from $6.50 to $5.50.

FLASH ‘N’ DOUGH: Had two wins and a second at Victorian provincials then luckless 4th n a Showcase at Cranbourne last start. Looks well credentialed for this with Craig Williams up.

IRISHKIWI: We don’t usually recommend them on the basis of cushion track form (where he bolted in at the Sunshine Coast last start) but this fellow is versatile and cannot be overlooked.

HEARTSUN, LAURELS and OUR MR CASHMAN are going well enough to rate upset chances in a tricky race.
