BARNEY’S ‘Birdsville Bash’ is on again this year and he has wasted no time informing us of a couple of changes designed to make the trip less taxing toward the end and also enhance the outback experience.

This year Barney’s Birdsville Cup racing trip will leave the Sunshine Coast on Monday August 30 at 6.30am and travel to Roma for an overnight stay in a motel.

After breakfast on Tuesday the party will travel to Quilpie for Kadangadang doo (a street party) with plenty of time to explore the township.

They will camp overnight at Quilpie before travelling on Wednesday to Windorah for the Yabbie Races that evening and a stopover at the famous Cooper’s Creek.

Thursday takes the party to Birdsville with a possible stop at Betoota for a station visit.

Home in Birdsville during the Cup carnival will again be the caravan park. All meals in camp are supplied with the exception of lunches which you have to provide.

Friday is the first day of the races followed by the Cup on Saturday.

On the Sunday the party packs up camp then travels to the South Australian border before travelling on to Windorah to camp overnight.

Monday and they venture on to Charleville for a stopover at the Waltzing Matilda Motel. There is plenty of time to Charleville with arrival in the early afternoon.

After breakfast on Tuesday they head off to Chinchilla for an overnight stay after a break at Muckadilla.

The tour ends at the Sunshine Coast mid-afternoon on the Wednesday.

The cost this share is $930 on a twin share basis.
