FEMALE STEWARD ALLEGEDLY HAD TO BREAK-UP 'CAT FIGHT'

A female Chief Steward had to break up an alleged ‘cat fight’ between two lady jockeys at Echuca races yesterday.

The Herald-Sun today reports the stoush occurred between Group 1 winning jockey, Nikita Beriman and Stacey Rawiller, sister of leading top jockeys, Brad and Nash.

Beriman and Rawiller allegedly exchanged words after the sixth race sparking a more animated discussion. Reports suggest things became more heated, a whip may have been thrown and then things became a little more physical.

The female Chief Steward apparently had to split the pair but one still wound up with a reddened eye and fat lip. The club doctor deemed Rawiller unfit to continue riding after the incident.

Racing Victoria stewards opened an inquiry and afer taking evidence from Rawiller, Beriman, Linda Meech and Amanda Masters the matter was adjourned.
