TWO-YEAR-OLD QUALIFYING TRIALS AT RANDWICK


THOROUGHBRED stars of the future will be on show this morning (Monday) when more than 75 horses take part in two-year-old qualifying trials at Royal Randwick.


Progeny from proven two year old sires such as Redoute’s Choice, Flying Spur, More Than Ready, Exceed and Excel, Encosta de Lago and General Nediym will compete in nine heats starting from 9.15am.

They will be joined by a number of progeny by first season sires including Snitzel, Stratum, Bradbury's Luck, Oratorio (Ire), Jet Spur, Dubawi (IRE), Domesday and Snippetson.

Heat two will see Christmas, half sister to Group 1 winner Mission Critical squaring off with Isabelino, half Sister to Coolmore Classic winner Regal Cheer.

Patinack Farm’s Heartsareforlove, the half brother to VRC Oaks winner Arapaho Miss, will trial in heat four.

In heat five, Hinchinbrook, half brother to Snitzel, will race Wilful Default, half brother to the superstarsTakeover Target and Predatory Pricer.

Second season sires Not A Single Doubt and Shamardal, who led the charge for winners as first season sires last season, renew their rivalry with runners represented in several heats.

The trials are for qualifying for the $100,000 Breeders Plate (1000m) and $100,000 Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) to be held on Arrowfield Epsom Day at Royal Randwick on October 3.

Food and refreshments will be available for spectators with an espresso cart to be located outside the Owners & Trainers Bar from 8.30am.

Toasted sandwiches, sandwiches made to order, pies and savouries will all be available from the Oaks sandwich counter, located ground floor of the Owners & Trainers Lounge, Officials Stand. Trial replays will be shown in this area.
