WHICH CHAMPION IS AUSTRALIA'S GREATEST EVER SPRING STAR?
TVN today announced the launch of a lucrative competition to decide just which thoroughbred racing champion is Australia’s Greatest Ever Spring Star.
The twelve horse field has been nominated by TVN’s racing experts and includes such luminaries as Phar Lap, Tulloch, Might and Power, Makybe Diva and Kingston Town.
Now it’s up to the public to decide just which horse is deserving of the title Greatest Ever Spring Star.The grand prize winner of a brand new Ford Territory TX, courtesy of UltraTune, will be drawn from all entrants who correctly select the horse receiving the highest number of votes at competition end on 7 November 2009.
All entrants will be eligible for the second prize of a trip to the Hong Kong International Cup (including airfares, transfers, accommodation and $2000 spending money) and the weekly prize of a free car service from Ultratune.
The competition commenced on 20 September 2009 and full details and updates will be available on TVN, in Australia’s most popular racing publications Best Bets and Winning Post and online at www.tvn.com.au and www.bestbets.com.au.
TVN Chief Executive, Peter Sweeney said the competition had already provoked fierce debate among TVN’s racing experts.
“It’s sure to put some old arguments to rest – and create some new ones. But it’s up to the public to decide and it will be fascinating to see the result.
"Everyone looks immediately to the great icons of Australian racing ? unsurpassed champions like Phar Lap and Makybe Diva – but there’s a few other superstars whose amazing Spring exploits are not so front of mind.
“With the added lure of these fantastic prizes from Ultratune and TVN, we anticipate an enormous response from the voting public. For the racing fan, this is the Australian Idol of thoroughbred racing.”
Each week the horse that has attracted the least number of votes will be eliminated until the final week of voting, when only the final four will remain in the field.
TVN’s experts will provide their views and competition updates on TVN’s popular program, Racing Review, every Sunday morning at 9.30 am (EST)..
TVN will also broadcast a series of vignettes throughout the competition spotlighting the extraordinary careers of each of our finest Spring performers.
Voting is by SMS to 1999 5566 (cost of call – 55c) and entrants may vote as many times as they like.
