ROAD TO ROCK FIRMS IN BETTING FOR EPSOM HANDICAP

FORM trainer Anthony Cummings’s Road To Rock heads a star-studded field for the $353,500 Group1 Arrowfield Stud Epsom Handicap at Royal Randwick this Saturday.

Road to Rock has firmed in betting since his shock win in last Saturday’s Group 1 George Main Stakes and he was on the fourth line of betting when nominations closed yesterday.

He will face strong competition from Chris Waller’s Shannon Stakes runner up Rangirangdoo, Peter Snowden’s Shannon Stakes winner Drumbeats, Chelmsford Stakes winner O’Lonhro and 2008 Doncaster Mile winner Triple Honour.

Gerald Ryan’s Ready To Lift ,  Anthony’s Cummings’ Adelaide Cup winner Zavite and Colin Little’s Sydney Cup winner Ista Kareem head a strong field for the $353,300 Group 1 The Metropolitan (2400m) Saturday.

Lee Freedman’s Speed Gifted and Marc Connors’ Mr Clangtastic both nominated for The Metropolitan but are examining their options before acceptances on Wednesday.

Gai Waterhouse’s super filly More Joyous leads the nominations for the $303,300 Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) on Saturday.

Talented fillies Little Surfer Girl and Deer Valley have also been nominated by Chris Waller for the race.

They will face off with Gerald Ryan’s Melito and Sister Madly, Ambitious Princess, Fool’s Ride and Perfect Rhythm from the Anthony Cummings stable.

John Thompson’s Onemorenomore heads the betting for the $303,500 Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) from another of his runners, Gathering, Waterhouse’s last start winner Viking Legend and it is expected Anthony Cummings’ Lovemelikearock will be a late entry for the event.

The first two big two year-old races of the Spring season will be run on Saturday in the $100,000 Listed Breeders Plate (1000m) for colts and geldings and the $100,000 Listed Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) for fillies.
