STRONG LINE-UPS IN FIRST DECLARATIONS FOR 3YO CLASSICS

FIRST declarations for the state’s coveted three-year-old staying classics, the AAMI Victoria Derby and Crown Oaks, closed with Racing Victoria Limited (RVL) today.

A total of 21 colts and geldings remain in contention for a start in the $1.5m Derby on 31
October, whilst 20 fillies are vying for a berth in the $1m Oaks on 5 November.

Both races will be run over 2500m at Flemington during the Emirates Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Shamoline Warrior heads the list of horses paid up for the Derby, along with Sydney visitors
Onemorenomore and Viking Legend and the talented New Zealander Monaco Consul.

Nine of the first declarations will further their claims for a start when they line up in tomorrow afternoon’s Listed $100,000 Chargold Project Management Geelong Classic.

Joining them in the 2206m feature will be the Lee Freedman-trained Well Rounded who is the
lone Oaks contender in action at Geelong.

Star Sydney fillies Run For Naara and Melito and the Bart Cummings-trained Faint Perfume
headline the list of horses declared for the Oaks.

Final declarations for the Derby are at 9am on Wednesday, 28 October, whilst final declarations
for the Oaks will be taken at 9am on Monday, 2 November.
