RACING NSW stewards on Thursday outlined a total of 52 charges against six individuals relating to the sport's growing cobalt scandal.

JAMES POLSON reports for FAIRFAX MEDIA that Rosehill trainer Sam Kavanagh bore the brunt of them, with 24 charges relating to British import Midsummer Sun, which was alleged to have abnormal levels of cobalt following his Gosford Gold Cup win in January, as well as incidents relating to other horses including Ceda Miss, Palazzo Pubblico, Centre Pivot and Spinning Diamond.

Flemington Equine Clinic partner Tom Brennan was hit with 11 charges relating to his involvement with Kavanagh, while FRC practice manager Aaron Corby was issued with two.

Disqualified former harness trainer Mitchell Butterfield received five charges for his alleged involvement, racing identity John Camilleri six and stablehand Michael O'Loughlin four.

The cobalt hearings for Kavanagh, Brennan and Corby are set for July 20 and 21 while the remainder of the charges involving Kavanagh, Butterfield, Camilleri and O'Loughlin will be heard on July 23 and 24.

Meanwhile, Warwick Farm trainer David Vandyke will attend an inquiry on Monday relating to the alleged presence of Ipratropium in the post-race sample taken from Queen Tara following the filly's second placing at Wyong on April 30.
