PLEASE DON’T PUMP UP THE TYRES OF SA RACING – IT’S AN ABSOLUTE ‘BASKET’ CASE & LET’S NOT TALK ABOUT LACK OF INTEGRITY THERE

INTERESTING contribution from PETER MAIR of SYDNEY concerning South Australian racing and there are plenty who will agree with him.

‘LUCKILY, this recent story on (racing website) The Straight is behind a paywall — as it deserves to be: SA RACING INDUSTRY REPORT DETAILS $729mn BOOST TO STATE ECONOMY. South Australia’s racing industry contributed $729.3 million to the state economy and supported more than 5000 jobs in 2024/25, with new figures underlining racing’s growing regional and community importance.

Talk about another industry-contrived serving of CUB presumably reported verbatim as ‘news’. One marker is in the headline, the spurious accuracy of the — $729m … refined to $729.3m– as the value of the racing industry to the SA economy. God knows what other gems of objectivity are only disclosed to ‘paying subscribers’.

Spare my days: Does no one cast a glance at the TAB dividends declared for the SA quadrellas on Saturdays — a summary indicator of the quality of the betting product served up by SA Racing?’
