RACING Queensland has also announced the appointment of Graham Quirk as Deputy Chairman of the new Board for a one-year term.
Hopefully it has been restricted to 12 months because by then the industry will have realised the mistake that was made appointing Matt McGrath as Chairman and will elevate Quirk to that role.
Quirk was first appointed to the RQ Board in 2019, and has served as the Thoroughbred Code Director for the duration of his tenure.
“Graham’s appointment as Deputy Chair is richly deserved, and a testament to his long-standing commitment to the industry,” McGrath said. “As the Board’s longest serving member, his guidance and experience continues to be invaluable and I look forward to working with him in this role.”
What he should have said is: ‘Graham has far more experience in Queensland racing than I do. He is more highly respected by the industry. And he didn’t create a job for himself when he did the Review’.
LGHR makes no apologies for suggesting that the former Brisbane Lord Mayor would have forgotten more about racing in Queensland than the newly appointed Chairman could ever hope to learn.
