FURTHER TESTS FOR JOLIE’S SHINJU & EL SEGUNDO SUFFERS EYE INJURY

VICTORIAN stewards today suspended top jockey Craig Williams for 10 meetings at the conclusion of an inquiry into interference in last Saturday’s Group 1 Turnbull Stakes at Flemington.

In other action stewards require the Singapore star, Jolie’s Shinju, to undergo further tests before racing again after she was found to have an irregular heart rhythm and trainer Colin Little has advised that El Segundo suffered an eye injury during the running of the Turnbull Stakes.

CRAIG WILLIAMS SUSPENDED FOR 10 MEETINGS

RACING Victoria stewards today concluded an inquiry that was adjourned from the Turnbull Stakes at Flemington on Saturday October 3 2009.

Craig Williams was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR 137 (a) for failing to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in when insufficiently clear of Predatory Pricer.

That resulted in severe tightening to a number of runners to the inside of Predatory Pricer, including that horse, along with Roman Emperor, Red Ruler and Vigor.

Craig Williams had his license to ride in races suspended for a period of 10 meetings (2 city, 8 country), to commence midnight October 10 and to expire midnight October 20 2009.

In assessing penalty the stewards took into account Williams’ riding record, the interference occurred in a Group 1 event and that the incident was assessed in a mid range category due to the number of runners that were interfered with.

JOLIE’S SHINJU SUFFERING IRREGULAR HEART RHYTHM

RACING Victoria stewards today were advised by Racing Victoria Limited Veterinary Surgeon, Dr P O'Callaghan, that Jolie's Shinju underwent further tests after track work at Caulfield this morning as a result of her poor performance at Moonee Valley on Friday 25 September 2009.

The results of an ECG test revealed that the mare is suffering from an irregular heart rhythm and is not clear to race until further tests are conducted this week.

EL SEGUNDO SUFFERS EYE INJURY DURING TURNBULL

TRAINER Colin Little today advised Racing Victoria Stewards that El Segundo sustained an injury to his near side eye during the running of the Turnbull Stakes at Flemington Saturday October 3 2009.

However, it was not expected that the injury would interfere with El Segundo's Spring preparation.
