IT’S NOT SO MUCH AUTUMN GLOW BUT TEAM WALLER THAT STANDS IN PATH OF SHEZA ALIBI
FULL marks to co-trainer Katherine Coleman for raising an issue that many punters are talking about heading into the clash of Sheza Alibi – the mare she trains in partnership with Peter Moody – and the star of the Chris Waller stable Autumn Glow.
Asked on SKY RADIO about the prospects of Sheza Alibi against the odds-on Autumn Glow in the million dollar Group One Winx Stakes at Randwick on Saturday, Coleman spoke of how the stable feared the rails draw could prove detrimental to their brilliant mare.
Coleman highlighted how Sheza Alibi would need clear running at some stage to overhaul Autumn Glow and with Waller having eight runners in the race how they could be responsible for blocking her path.
It’s a valid point and one would hope that Stewards have a pre-race chat to all jockeys engaged, reminding them of their responsibilities and warning that team riding won’t be tolerated in any race – not that anyone would ever suggest riders for the top stable would be involved in those sort of illegal tactics.

GREG BLANCHARD of the GOLD COAST continues to highlight the embarrassment of horses in the bush having to be scratched because there are no jockeys to ride them.
Greg estimates that in the past month the connections of 66 horses have been deprived the opportunity of seeing them race. Not much of a return on your investment let alone the training fees virtually washed down the drain.
These are the ‘embarrassing numbers’ that Racing Queensland continues to do nothing about:
July 24 – two at Longreach and 23 Julia Creek.
August 1 – nine at Corfield and five at Tambo.
August 6 – three at Mt Isa (from a TAB meeting).
August 8 – six at Cunnamulla and three at Mutaburra.
August 15 – 14 at Richmond and 1 at Longreach.
This is an on-going disgrace inherited by new RQ Chairman Matt McGrath and his CEO Lachlan Murray. Like many others, LGHR believes they have done next to nothing to correct the problem.
And some bush identities are questioning if McGrath even knows of the situation, living over a 1000km away in Cronulla where he is probably more concerned about his beloved Sharks who are battling to make the Top 8 in the NRL finals race.
TAYLOR DECLARED ALBANESE’S ‘LAP DOG’ IN GAMBLING REFORM ‘ROLL OVER’
THE publication KANGAROO COURT of Australia hasn’t missed the Coalition in what many perceive to be a ‘gutless stand’ on changes to the rules that apply to gambling advertising.

ANGUS TAYLOR’S time as Liberal Party and Coalition leader is well and truly over, with him failing again to have a badly needed fight with the Government on policy that could have reignited his floundering leadership.
Angus Taylor, whose own history has helped kill the Liberal Party, has put up the white flag and done deals with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to pass some very questionable legislation.
A perfect example is the gambling advertising legislation, which is best described as weak, designed to keep the gambling industry happy while pretending to actually do something about Australia’s excessive gambling problem.
Angus Taylor could have dug in and demanded a blanket ban on gambling advertising, or close to it, which would have embarrassed the government in a huge way for being in the gambling industry’s pocket.
Taylor digging in would have also been a winner with voters, as “Three in four Australians (77%) would support a ban on gambling advertisements“, and would have put him front and centre with the media allowing him to promote himself as a man of principle putting families and voters first.
But no, Angus Taylor buckled and proved the coalition are just as much in the gambling industry’s pocket as the Government is.
To add insult to injury, Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young this week told the Senate that Angus Taylor was Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s lap dog Toto.
