THE Bundaberg Greyhound Racing Club has accused Racing Queensland of reneging on a promise to upgrade its track facilities.
An email to Members and Supporters for club officials bags the crap out of new RQ Board Chairman Matt McGrath and his acting CEO ‘side-kick’ Lachlan Murray.
It reads:
‘FOLLOWING 12 months of efforts toward track refurbishment at Bundaberg, (we) are disappointed to report that Acting CEO Lachlan Murray and new Board Chairman Matt McGrath have reneged on their commitments.
They failed to engage with us or consider our perspectives. They were purely there to tell us that the highly-anticipated two-turn track was not happening.
(In discussions with RQ) the club asked if anything we said today would change their minds and Mr Murray said ‘no’.
So basically we are getting a straight track that the village idiot knows won’t cater for participants needs.
The entire greyhound community in Queensland are being affected by this short-sighted decision and (we) don’t know any other sport that is run by people who know absolutely nothing about it.
They are listening to the wrong people and making decisions that aren’t in the best interests of participants.
As a committee we are absolutely devastated with this late change by the RQ hierarchy. We have no confidence in those making the decisions.’
EDITOR’S NOTE: We would be happy to publish any response from RQ, its chairman or acting CEO. But as LGHR is on the ‘banned’ list for Media Releases that are made by RQ, can’t see that happening. Not to worry they will always have some spin doctor in the mainstream racing media who will support their decision.
AND on the subject of Matt McGrath, the Sydneysider who stakeholders have labelled the ‘invisible man’ since his controversial appointment as RQ Chairman, our good mate Ray Stevens the MP for Mermaid Beach reports the following.
“I attended the night meeting at the Gold Coast last Friday and Matt was there. It was a big night, a million dollar race and an enormous crowd which the club should be proud of.’
Thanks for that Ray. Just wondering though if Matt was having a weekend escape to the unit he owns on the Coast to clear the air from Sydney?
