DAN COSTELLO MEMORIAL DATE AT ALBION PARK ANNOUNCED…..by Phil Purser
Please be advised that Gitana, the widow of Dan Costello, has advised that a memorial service for her late husband Dan will be held at Albion Park on Sunday 30 August at 2pm.
As an aside, Gitana is meeting with me on Wednesday of this week, so that we can work together on sifting through Dan’s racing memorabilia collection, to enable Gitana to work out how she wishes to market that collection.
It is understood that part of Dan’s collection includes – but is not limited to – A) multiple Makybe Diva prints signed by Glen Boss, covering specifically four of her major career wins, namely her 3 consecutive Melbourne Cup victories (2003, 2004 and 2005) plus her Cox Plate win of 2005, B) multiple Black Caviar prints, signed by one or both of Luke Nolen and Peter Moody, C) multiple numbered limited edition prints of Gloaming , which won 19 races in a row (the upcoming 1800-metre 3YO feature, the Gloaming Stakes, run at Rosehill each September since 1978 is named after the great galloper). Additionally, there are a couple of bookmakers boards, in canvas bags, which display the pre-decimal odds of 6/4, 11/8 and so on.
Please also be advised that 100% of all funds raised from the eventual sale of Dan’s racing memorabilia collection will go directly to Gitana, to assist her financially into the future.
