GOLLAN PROVOKES PLENTY OF ANGER WITH HIS THOUGHTS ON WHIP PROTESTS

CHAMPION trainer TONY GOLLAN has provoked plenty of rage with his declaration that ‘whip protests are absurd’ and ‘should be dumped’.

These are some of the questions sent to LGHR that critics say BEN DORRIES of the MURDOCH MEDIA failed to ask when he had his head in the ‘news feed bin’ at the Gollan stable.

DOES Tony Gollan believe that Boomtown Boss would have beaten Royal Insignia in the G2 Aurie’s Star at Flemington last Saturday had Daniel Moor not ‘belted the crap’ out of it over the concluding stages?

DOES he disagree that it looks hypocritical for the Stewards to dismiss the protest then suspend Moor for 30 days and fine him $3,600 for misuse of his whip?

DOES Gollan disagree that this gives the anti-whip lobby and animal liberationists a ‘free hit’ providing ammunition for the proposal that breaches of the whip like this should see the winning horse disqualified?

AND a question for Ben Dorries, the author of the story on this in The Courier-Mail and Racenet – arguably a well-known ‘spin doctor’ for all things Gollan:

WHO are these ‘plenty of others in Australian racing’, apart from those in the Gollan camp on this occasion, who insist whip protests are nonsensical and should be dumped? LGHR has been around the industry for a long time and can’t find too many.

We believe that the only way of stopping jockeys from breaching the whip rule is to disqualify winning horses. If the Stewards don’t start doing that it will continue to happen.
