RQ DIDN’T LEARN FROM THE PROGRAMMING MISTAKE THEY MADE AT THE GOLD COAST

GREG BLANCHARD of the GOLD COAST is right when he describes RQ programming as difficult to understand:

THE scheduling by Racing Queensland can arguably be described as crazy at times.

Next Saturday the Gold Coast have been given a twilight meeting. Most races will be run under lights.

Who the hell wants to go out during winter at night? It’s fine during the warmer months.

Apart from that, bouquets to the GCTC next Saturday when the gates will be opened at 10am for patrons wanting to bet on Brisbane and the southern states. The betting auditorium will be open (in part) to accommodate them but not fully until around 4pm.

I also noticed the Club will provide free admission to the public for the twilight meeting.

Golden Slipper day this year was 21 March. RQ programmed a Gold coast meeting the night before so my mates and I went to the pub on Slipper Day as I’m sure many others did.

They obviously did learn from their mistake this year. Once again in 2027 the Gold Coast will race the night before the Slipper. How ridiculous?

I have no doubt these decisions not only impact mug punters like me but the bottom line for the Gold Coast Turf Club when it comes to turnover.’
