‘THE continuing wet in south-east Queensland this week almost ensures a very wet track when the Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup meeting is run at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
This is the chance for champion trainer Ciaron Maher to silence the critics of his crack sprinter Jimmysstar who say he has failed to deliver this campaign. The three-time G1 winner was arguably below his best when fourth in the Doomben 10,000.
The jury is also out with Melbourne Cup winner Half Yours which has not reproduced his best this campaign. Perhaps the soreness that vets cleared him of prior to the Doomben Cup might have been to blame despite trainer Tony McEvoy’s denials but the horse was still a shade plain when a battling fourth.’
