WILLIAMS TO JOIN QRL AS RACETRACK DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

WARREN Williams, recently awarded the Australian Racecourse Manager of the Year at the Australian Racecourse Managers Awards for the second time, has accepted a position with the State’s governing body, Queensland Racing Limited (QRL).

Williams has over 25 years of experience working with racecourses and, in particular, has spent the last 15 of those in Queensland.

Williams has accepted a position with QRL as the racetrack development manager. In addition to overseeing various development works at racecourses throughout the state, Williams will work with all course managers to ensure that appropriate maintenance regimes are in place for all TAB racecourses.

Malcolm Tuttle, QRL’s chief operations manager, said, “It is an exciting time for thoroughbred racing in Queensland and a great boost for the industry to have access, on a full-time basis, to a person with Warren’s credentials.

“Racing and training facilities are the heart and soul of what we are about and it is Warren’s job to make sure the heart and soul remain in good shape.

“Warren has consistently demonstrated the ability to deliver first-class racing and training facilities and the fact that the broader industry can now tap into his vast knowledge will be of immense benefit.”

Warren Williams said, “It will be a challenge, but at the end of the day this challenge represents a wonderful opportunity to work with a range of track managers to provide the best tracks we can. The development of this position by QRL is another progressive move for the industry.”

Brisbane Racing Club (BRC) chairman Kevin Dixon said, “It is nice to see Warren’s talents that were developed at Doomben and Eagle Farm now being shared by the wider industry.

“Warren has done a great job in helping pull the merger together and the BRC looks forward to working with Warren in the future.”

Williams will commence duties with QRL once his commitments to the BRC are finalised.
