MACKAY jockey David Simmons has been suspended for three weeks after an investigation into the fall of fellow jockey Jeffrey Felix at Mackay in July.
Stewards concluded their inquiry before and after the last race at Townsville today (Tuesday).
Simmons who pleaded not guilty to the charge does not intend to appeal.
Stewards ruled that the penalty is normally a month suspension. But in view of his good riding record he was given three e weeks.
Stewards acceded to the request by Simmons to call Rockhampton jockey Alisha Taylor who gave evidence on a telephone hook-up.
Simmons is to marry Tracey Manzelmann, sister of top Mackay trainer John on November 10.
“I come back in a week before the wedding.”
