THE Brisbane Racing Club (BRC) today announced the appointment of Mr Neville Bell as Chairman to its Board of Directors.

Mr Bell has been appointed to replace Mr Bill Sexton, who retired as Chair today but who will continue as a Director.

“I am honoured to take up the Chairmanship of the Brisbane Racing Club Board as we enter in to an exciting new era for racing in Brisbane.

“It will be an incredibly busy period for us moving forward as we bring to life our Master Plan project and continue to implement diverse strategies that will grow the future of thoroughbred racing in this State,” said Mr Bell.

Mr Bell assumes the Chair after serving as a Director on the former Queensland Turf Club Board for 11 years (1998 – 2009) and the Brisbane Racing Club Board for the last three years.

He brings to the role over 30 years experience in banking, finance and property development.

Active in the racing industry, Mr Bell owns several thoroughbred racehorses and is the proprietor of Kilto Park Stud and Agistment Farm.

Mr Bell was a part owner of Sky Heights, which had multiple Group One successes including the Australian Derby and Caulfield Cup.

Mr Dean Hassall was appointed to the position of Vice Chair today also.

Mr Hassall, who has held a position on the BRC Board since April, is a management consultant with significant expertise across the venue and events industries and in facility development.

Mr Hassall’s career includes executive management roles at iconic Queensland venues Suncorp Stadium, (former) ANZ Stadium and Sleeman Sports Complex.
