RACING Victoria Limited (RVL) has announced an enhancement to Super VOBIS - Victorian thoroughbred racing’s lucrative breeding and racing incentive scheme which last season distributed over $6 million in bonuses to eligible owners and breeders.

RVL has introduced the Super VOBIS Rebate which provides the nominators of eligible youngsters sold interstate the chance to earn a return on their investment.

Commencing with the current yearling crop (2008 foals), any Super VOBIS qualified horse that is purchased, trained and races interstate during its two and three-year-old career will be eligible for the Rebate provided that it does not race in Victoria during this period.

The Super VOBIS Rebate will be awarded to nominators in the form of a voucher and will be redeemable via future nominations to the scheme.

It will be paid to the value of the original nomination – there are three different entry fees depending on a horse’s breeding and ownership – and be valid for two seasons after its issue.

To be eligible for the Super VOBIS scheme and accompanying initiatives such as the Super VOBIS Rebate, the yearling nomination fee must be paid by 1 February, 2010.

“It is vital to the success of the scheme that investors have an opportunity to recoup their initial outlay so the Rebate has been introduced as further encouragement for breeders and owners to participate in Super VOBIS,” RVL Manager – Owners & Breeders, Richard Andrews, said.

“The Rebate ensures those breeders whose Super VOBIS progeny heads interstate are acknowledged for their support of the scheme and encouraged to maintain their participation.

“The introduction of the Rebate heralds the start of a bumper period for Super VOBIS with the ‘Super Days’ promotion planned for January and the yearling sales commencing in the New Year,” Andrews added.

“I would like to remind breeders and owners about the yearling nomination deadline on 1 February, 2010 and encourage them to get their entry forms in early.”

The Super VOBIS ‘Super Days’ promotion will headline the 10 TAB meetings to be conducted throughout country Victoria on Sundays in January 2010.

Up to $800,000 in bonuses are on offer as part of the promotion, which is open to Super VOBIS qualified horses of all ages, as opposed to just two and three-year-olds.

Each race on January 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 will carry a $10,000 bonus to be paid to the winning connections of Super VOBIS qualified horses as follows; 70% owner, 30% nominator.
