A sizzling feud between some of the best fillies from Sydney and Melbourne will be decided in the $350,000 Group 1 Patinack Farm AJC Australian Oaks (2400m) at Royal Randwick this Saturday.

The Bart Cummings-trained Faint Perfume will take on Tony Vasil’s Valdemoro in the classic fillies staying race which boasts an exceptional field of 12 after final acceptances today.

Faint Perfume to be ridden by Michael Rodd and Valdemoro piloted by Blake Shinn line up in barriers 11 and 12 and will resume their rivalry that was launched four and a half months ago when the Sydney filly prevailed in the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) at Flemington.

Faint Perfume also got the better of her rival at the Group 1 Vinery Club Stakes at Rosehill in April, both wins by the smallest of margins.

Other starters include the in form Speedy Natalie and Peter Moody’s Ocean Dream.

Sydney horses have drawn badly for the $303,300 Group 1 James Boag Galaxy (1100m) with Gary Portelli’s Gold Trail starting from barrier 13 and Tim Martin’s Typhoon Zed drawing 15.

Chris Waller’s Shellscrape drew 14 but Gai Waterhouse’s Swift Alliance faired better with gate nine in the 15-strong field..

Victorians Ortensia, Rostova and Definitely Ready will also make the trip to Randwick and faired much better with the barriers.

The $1.5 million Group 1 Emirates Doncaster Mile (1600m) headlines the eight-race card with boom Victorian mare Typhoon Tracy remaining the one to beat.

She will be challenged by Danleigh, Rangirangdoo and Theseo in the field of 20.

The thrill and excitement of Emirates Doncaster Day will take extra significance this year with TAB Sportsbet offering one lucky race goer a $50,000 bet on the big race.

In what is certain to be classic punter's day at the races, the hugely poplar Punter’s Podium will return offering further incentive for all those at attend Royal Randwick this Saturday.

Punters are urged to get out of the pubs and clubs and witness Randwick’s marquee race and join the team from Racenet.com.au who will host the Punter's Podium and a range of exciting experts and guests.

The Racenet.com.au Punter’s Club will bet on races 4 to 8. Tickets cost $20 from on course TAB counters and dividends are collected at the end of the day.

For old time’s sake, Royal Randwick will bring back the Punter's Podium chocolate wheel with thousands of dollars in prizes for the lucky punters at the track.

Hats are the theme of the day and the Fashions on the Field will also include Best Millinery prize and Best Couple.

"We have strong fields contesting all eight races ensuring an action packed day with the highlight most certainly to be Typhoon Tracy, Danleigh and Rangirangdoo battling it out in the Emirates Doncaster over the famous Randwick mile.”

Gates open at 10.30am, the first race is at 12.25pm and the last is 4.55pm.

Tickets cost $40 at the gate or $35 from Ticketek.
