WEST Australian trainer Adam Durrant has been fined $10,000 by stewards after a stable raid which resulted in a charge involving treatment of his star galloper Mr Moet.

RACING VICTORIA senior handicapper Neil Jennings has today allocated versatile Western Australian galloper Luckygray topweight of 58kg for the $1 million G1 Lexus Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on Super Saturday, 9 March.

The Gino Poletti-trained five-year-old is being primed for a first-up tilt at Australia’s premier sprint race, having won the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic over 1800 metres at his most recent appearance at Ascot, WA on 8 December 2012.

UNBEATEN champion Black Caviar’s place in the nation’s sporting history has been officially cemented with her induction this evening into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame.

The Peter Moody-trained superstar, who claimed her 23rd win last Saturday in the renamed Black Caviar Lightning, joins dual Cox Plate heroine Sunline as the only horses to be inducted whilst still racing.

GEOFF Lane, a former champion Victorian apprentice who became an elite senior rider in Australia and Hong Kong, will be inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame tomorrow night.

Lane will be one of 10 racing greats bestowed the sport’s highest honour when he’s welcomed into the Hall of Fame at the 2013 induction ceremony at Melbourne’s Grand Hyatt.

RACING Victoria (RV) stewards today conducted inquiries into alleged betting activities by licensed jockeys Michelle Payne, Michael Walker and Anthony Darmanin.

The inquiries were opened following the completion of a lengthy investigation that commenced in mid-2012 with a routine audit of wagering service providers’ betting accounts.

 

TRAINER Tony Vasil has been fined $10,000 of a charge of illegally administering a substance that saw the late withdrawal of Classic Elle from a race at Moonee Valley in January.
